Happy second stroke-aversary to me!

It was two years ago today that I suffered a stroke. I don’t remember anything about it, really. I may or may not remember my son getting home from work and discovering me face up on the floor. I may or may not remember a paramedic standing over me and asking questions. Those moments may have been my imagination. Who knows? Later that night, I was airlifted to an acute care facility in Des Moines, where I spent about a week and a half. I don’t remember any of that either (except leaving), but I definitely get very anxious now when I hear a helicopter overhead. I was then transferred to an inpatient rehab facility in Moline, where I received occupational and physical therapy from the amazing Emily, Sydnee, and Barb. Since my release from rehab, I have been healing and just living life as best I can. The right side of my body is still messed up so I walk with a cane (balance issues, mostly). Fatigue continues to be an issue. But I make do. I am starting to write again. Look for more blog posts, along with some nonfiction books. I may even write some more novels and short stories at some point. We shall see. At this point, I'm just happy to be alive.
